Some of my fondest summer memories are relaxing on a beach, listening to a transistor radio blasting out classic pop tunes as the music swirls with the warm breeze and echoes off the shoreline. The sonic effect was surreal, a symphonic convergence of land and “sea”, in harmony with nature.
To kick off the Yacht Club Show’s summer hiatus, we bring you an all music, no talk show featuring some of those great pop songs of the late 60’s and early 70’s (20 songs in all). I am immediately transported back to camping at Sugarloaf lake in 1970 with our good friends the Davis family.
The boys explore the “American Myth”. Featuring new music from Ray Davies (The Kinks’ front man and main songwriter). Great songs – Sir Ray is at the top of his game.

Mike’s “Case for historical Christ”
From Mike: This is an interesting show in that the music is not aligned with the content. I picked music to capture the Easter season somewhat, and while the YCS doesn’t take itself seriously and, as is usually the case, makes light of serious subject matter during our talking segments, the music is somewhat misaligned, disjointed from the show. At first listen I thought “bad idea”. This isn’t working. Then I looked at it in a different light. Maybe the music, for some of us, is the respite we need from this crazy mixed up world. Maybe it is a reminder that things can be different. Without getting preachy, I hope you do find some solace in YCS #50’s musical selections.
