Regarding Barrington Bunny (from Killer):
“Quite honestly, I was a little shocked and puzzled after hearing the story of Barrington Bunny for the first time at midnight Christmas mass about 5 years ago. I remember turning to Carol and mouthing the words “Huh? What was that about? That’s his sermon?”
On the short drive home from mass, the story was the focus of our conversation with the kids. Then it hit me: we were all talking about the sermon. How often does that really happen? That’s when I realized Fr. Jim’s real intent was to get families talking. I’m sure conversations all over our our parish community were starting with “what did that sermon mean?” “how does it relate to Christmas?”
The story has stuck with me all the following years and I am still analyzing it. I have some thoughts about it and have drawn some conclusions, but I’m sure they are my own unique interpretation.
