Been in northern Michigan for 3 days, no one has mentioned Greece or the  problems the EC or the Greeks are facing.  In fact,  I’m not sure anyone knows Greece exists. I guess everyone’s too busy celebrating America’s birthday by drinking beer and shooting off fireworks.

Crisis update: Pan, the mischievous Greek god, had his way with us the other night.  We attempted to pay (a local proprietor) with a credit card and were told they couldn’t process it because of the bank closure.  They were lying.  They obviously wanted/needed the cash.  Fortunately we had enough.

Rhodes ( the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands) is fairly insulated from the hysteria you see on the mainland.  The tourist economy brings in euros to keep things going.

Had a close call today, but the clouds passed to the north (check out the horizon).   Turkey wasn’t so lucky.  Aphrodite smiled on us.

The Greeks are totally dismissive of this fiasco. They might vote yes or they might vote no on the 5th.  Either way it could be good or it could be bad.

Everyone seems to think either way, it will be resolved soon.  Personally I think Socrates was right, “It ain’t over, ’till it’s over”.
